As part of Broward County’s celebration of 50 years of Arts and Culture, the Visual Artistic Excellence Grant provides direct funds to a mid-career/established individual artist who lives and works in Broward County. The selected artist will have a strong history of recent exhibitions, commissions or other professional achievements. This grant is awarded to an artist whose work will have a profound impact not only on the arts, but on culture and discourse more broadly.
The funds will support the creation of original work(s) of which one will be accessioned into the Broward County Cultural Division collection. Prior to the termination of the grant period, the artist shall give to the Cultural Division one piece of artwork of the County’s choosing. Artists are only eligible to receive this grant once.
Based on funding availability, each Visual Artistic Excellence Grant award may be up to $25,000.
Application deadline: August 8, 2025 on, or before, 11:59p.m.
Program Implementation Period: October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026
Eligibility for Visual Artistic Excellence Grant
An individual artist is eligible to apply for Visual Artistic Excellence Grant if they meet the following requirements:
o The artist is 18 years or older.
o The artist is a current resident of Broward County and intends to maintain primary residence in Broward County for the duration of the grant term. Two forms of documentation are required.
o Must be a professional and established artist with at least three (3) years experience in their field as evidenced by their resume and work samples.
o Artist must have a studio in Broward County, and a studio visit is required.
o The artist is in good standing with the Division, with no delinquent reports or outstanding grant documentation requirements.
